Join us for an immersive experience in the heart of historical Finland, where you will explore the rich heritage of traditional wooden architecture. This summer school is designed for architects, students, and enthusiasts eager to learn about the unique techniques, materials, and cultural significance of Finnish wooden structures.
Over the course of the program, participants will engage in hands-on workshops led by seasoned craftsmen and architects who specialize in traditional building and architecture. You will have the opportunity to study iconic examples of Finnish architecture, understand the historical context, and learn to draw completely new wooden buildings in historical context.
The curriculum will include lectures, site visits, and practical sessions, providing a comprehensive understanding of the principles of sustainable design and the craftsmanship that defines Finnish architecture. Participants will also design in studio and have the chance to collaborate with fellow attendees, fostering a vibrant community passionate about preserving and innovating within this architectural tradition.

Practical information
Who can apply?
This Summer School is open to up to 15 students of all backgrounds. No previous education in the field is required. Passion for learning from traditional architecture and urbanism is the most important requirement.
DATES: Monday 4th August – Sunday 10th August, 2025
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30th April, 2025
COURSE LOCATION: Pukkila Manor, Piikkiö, Kaarina, Finland. 10 minutes from Turku.
COURSE LANGUAGE: English
COURSE FEE: 500 EUR (including course materials, daily lunch, site visits in the vicinity)
ACCOMMODATION FEE: 300 EUR (shared or private rooms conveniently located near Pukkila Manor)

Applications are welcomed until 30th of April, 2025. Accepted applicants will be informed by 15th of May. They will have 7 days to confirm their spot by paying the course fee (and accommodation if relevant). In case a spot is not confirmed, it will be given to an applicant on the waiting list.
